Tonight, 00:30 GMT, we have J Wilstermann – Oriente Petrolero, the second leg of the Copa Lidertadores second round qualification. Two Bolivian teams battling for glory and money! The first leg was won by the Cochabamba club, 2-1.
J Wilstermann – Started the championships with a heavy defeat, 1-5 at Bolivar, but quickly recovered with a 4-0 win at home, against Destroyers. Between these two league games, they recorded the victory against Oriente, 2-1. Had a phenomenal run in Copa Libertadores last year, reaching the quarter-finals, where they were taken out by River Plate (Argentina), despite a 3-0 win at home. The Argentinians took good care of things in the second leg, 8-0. But remains a huge performance for the Bolivian team, considering that they eliminated Atletico Minero (Brazil) in the 1/8 of the competition. Zenteno received a red card in the first leg and will not take part in this clash.
Oriente Petrolero – Had the second best offensive in home matches last season, but failed to score more than once against Wilstermann. However, there were not too many folks that believed Petrolero could even surpass the first stage of the qualifiers, against U de Deportes (Peru). After a 2-0 win at home, they were 3-0 down in Peru, but snatched a goal in the 85th minute and qualified for the next round. Rosales will return after suspension, but Duk and Paredes will miss this one for the same reason. Oriente has just one win in the last 15 away matches in all competitions.
But the good news for Petrolero is that Wilstermann will also approach this duel as “visitors”, because the game is played in Sucre, due to the fact that Felix Capriles is undergoing improvements for the upcoming South American Games. Thousands of supporters traveled hundred of km from both Cochabamba and Santa Cruz to be alongside their favorites. With $400k in the middle, there’s no surprise that the first leg saw 10 yellow cards and two reds. Although a derby, previous encounters were more peaceful. Argentinian German Delfino will be the referee and, despite coming from an intense championship, he has yet to see how Bolivians tackle. This season, in 11 domestic matches, he awarded 7 red cards. There’s a lot on the line here and I won’t be surprised to see another intense clash.
Prediction: over 7,5 cards, odds 1.67
Seconday prediction: over 0,5 red cards, odds 1.97
