Russia – Croatia is another unbalanced game from the World Cup quarter finals where Croatia will have to go pass Russia, the big surprise that eliminated Spain at penalties last time out. The game will start at 20:00 and it will take place on Olimpiyskiy Stadion Fisht in Sochi, Russia.

Russia made the biggest surprise at this World Cup and eliminated Spain in the round of the 16. They managed to take full advantage of the fact that they are the hosts of this competition. A gifted penalty from Pique was all that they needed to score one goal and then defend the whole game. At penalties Akinfeev showed his worth and made a dream come true for Russia. I think that their road will stop here because Croatia plays a different football than Spain, a more active one and Russia can’t defend all the time like they did against Spain.
Russia: Akinfeev – Kudryashov – Ignashevic – Kutepov – Fernandes – Zobnin – Gazinskiy – Cheryshev – Golovin – Samedov – Dzyuba
Croatia made their qualification really hard in the game against Denmark. Two fast goals were scored at the start of the game and it ended just like that. Modric wasted a penalty in the 116th minute and could’ve wasted the qualification as well. Both keepers made a huge impact on the game as they saved 3 penalties each but Denmark were the unlucky ones. All things considered they deserved the qualification because they played a much better football and had more chances than their opponents.
Croatia: Subasic – Strinic – Lovren – Vida – Vrsaljko – Perisic – Rakitic – Brozovic – Modric – Rebic – Mandzukic
Russia – Croatia: Head-to-Head

Russia – Croatia: Prediction
Croatia won the only game against Russia in an International friendly in 2005, and other two games ended in goalless draws. Croatia are clearly the favorites here but Russia could make another big surprise here. They are the hosts and have some chances to qualify as well but it will be hard to make this happen. Croatia plays a really aggressive football and Russia as well. It might be a closed game with not so many goals, or things can go the other way. In my opinion Croatia will win this in regular time and that will be the only bet placed in this one.
Prediction: Croatia to win, Odds: 2.25
